Rufforth Pre-School Staff Profiles

Laila Conning

My name is Laila Conning

I live in Acomb with my partner and two sons. My eldest son attends Rufforth primary school and my youngest joins me at preschool. In my spare time I like to go swimming, spend time with my family and shop for bargains!

I started working at Rufforth Preschool in June 2017. I feel blessed to work at Rufforth playgroup, not only does it fit perfectly around my family life but its also a lovely place to work. Rufforth Is such a small friendly village with a real family feel to it.

I qualified as a level 3 childcare practitioner in 2003. Since then i have gained lots of experience working as a nursery nurse, senior nursery nurse, nanny, nursery teacher, live in nanny and playgroup assistant.

I love working with children as I enjoy providing fun and stimulating activities that the children can learn from. I also like capturing children's special moments with written observations and photographs. Being able to share these special achievements with the parents and children makes me smile.

Rachael Robertshaw

My name is Rachael Robertshaw

I have always wanted to work with children, so a BTEC National Diploma in Early Years (NVQ Level 3) felt like a natural course upon finishing school. I worked as a Childminder before going to University to explore another of my passions. In 2013 I graduated with a 2:1 in Contemporary Fine Art. I thoroughly enjoy merging art and childcare.

As someone who loves to be creative, I am enjoying every moment I spend with the children at Rufforth Pre-Scool. I feel privileged to provide little ones with the environment to explore and learn. Every day is different and it is really exciting, seeing the children grow and flourish.

As well as Laila and Rachael, we have a pool of staff who are all DBS checked and experienced at working with Early Years children, and provide us with cover for illness, holidays and training. These include Lisa Brookman, Renata Holliday and Zoe Pulleyn.
